A perfectionist is someone who is not satisfied with anything unless it is completely perfect. They notice small mistakes other people would ignore, and they often redo work that already looks fine. The word can be a noun (She is a perfectionist) or an adjective (perfectionist standards). It is common in everyday English, not only in textbooks. Sometimes it is said with respect — they care about quality — and sometimes with a sigh, because living or working with a perfectionist can be . Though actually, many people who call themselves perfectionists are just being hard on themselves; they are not always producing perfect work.
