Percipient is a formal, rather old-fashioned word. Used of a person, it means they are quick to notice and understand things — close to perceptive, which is the word people actually say. You may also meet it as a noun for “a person who perceives,” especially in psychology, or in writing about extra-sensory feeling (the percipient is the one who “receives” the impression). Though actually, if you use perceptive instead in ordinary English, almost nobody will mind, and more people will understand you. It is not a daily-life adjective.
