    A peke is a : a very small dog with a short flat nose and long silky hair. Peke is the short, friendly name people use in easy talk — 'a peke', 'my peke' — the way someone might say 'lab' for a Labrador. It is informal and fond. You would not usually put it on a vet form or in a breed list; there you write or Pekingese. Though actually, once you know it is just a pet-name for that one breed, there is no extra meaning hiding in it. It is not a type of peek, and it is not a general word for any tiny dog.
