1. 1

A pegboard is a thin, hard board covered in a grid of holes. You push or metal hooks into the holes, then hang tools, keys, pans, scissors, or craft things on them. Workshops, kitchens, classrooms, and shops like it because you can move the hooks whenever the layout needs to change. It is a plain, practical object, not a fancy or literary word. Though actually, people almost always use pegboard as the name of the board itself. A verb 'to pegboard' exists on paper, but you will rarely hear anyone say it; they say 'hang it on the pegboard' instead.
