A pedalo is a small, light boat, usually for a lake, a park pond, or a quiet bit of sea, that you move by pushing pedals with your feet, like a bicycle. Often two people sit side by side. You hire them at holiday parks. The word was borrowed from French pédalo, once a brand name that people then used for any boat of that kind. It has a British holiday flavour; in American English people more often say boat or pedal boat. Informal, fun English — not a school-essay word. Though actually, some pedalos also have a little wheel; the point is still the feet, not oars.
