1. 1

A PCSO is a British street worker who helps the police. The letters stand for Police Community Support Officer. Their job is to walk around a neighbourhood, talk to the people who live and work there, and help everyone feel a little safer. They watch for trouble, take reports of small problems, and pass serious crime on to a full police officer. They wear a uniform, so from far away they can look like the police — though actually they are not. They do not have the same legal powers or the same duties as an ordinary officer. They usually cannot run a full investigation, and they do not carry the same equipment. You will meet the word in British news and British ; Americans do not use it. Other countries may have similar under a different name, or they may have no such job at all.

    英國的社區支援警員(不是正式警察)。台灣沒有完全對應的職位。
