A payslip is the small record you get each time your employer pays you. It shows how much you earned, and how much was taken off for tax and other things, so the number that lands in your bank is not a mystery. In Britain people say payslip; in American English the same paper is often a pay stub. It used to be a real slip of paper in an envelope with your . Though actually, many workplaces now send it by email or put it on a company website — still called a payslip, even when there is no paper. It is a work-and-office word, not a word you use with friends.
