    A passageway is a way that people walk through to get from one place to another — a corridor in a building, a path between walls, a short covered way. It is the space you go along, not the journey itself. You will see it on signs and in stories: a dark passageway, a passageway to the garden. Though actually, inside a house many people just say hall or hallway; passageway can sound a little more like a building, a ship, or a place that exists only for going through. “Passage” can mean the same thing; passageway makes the “way” extra clear.
