A Parsee is a member of an old Persian religious community that has lived in India for many centuries. Their faith is Zoroastrianism, the religion of fire temples; in older Chinese talk people often called it 拜火教, though that nickname is rougher than the people themselves would choose. Their families came from Persia and made a new home in western India, especially around Mumbai. The group is small, but it is well known in Indian history and business. The spelling Parsee is the older English form. Today many writers prefer Parsi, and you should treat the two as the same people, not as two different groups. It is a name for a people, so it is usually capitalised, like French or Japanese. You will meet it in history, religion, and Indian English newspapers, not in everyday Taiwan talk.
