1. 1

Paramedical describes people — and the work they do — who have been trained to help the hurt and to do medical tasks, but who are not doctors or nurses. A paramedic is the best-known example; , ambulance technicians, and other support staff are often put in the same broad bucket. Though actually, in real sentences the word is usually an adjective sitting in front of a noun: paramedical staff, paramedical services, paramedical training. Using it alone as “a paramedical” for one person is possible but much less common than saying paramedic. It is a formal, workplace word: you find it on job notices and in hospital writing, not in chat. The idea is the same para- as in paramedic: working alongside medicine, not instead of it.
