A palindrome is a word, a number, or a phrase that is the same when you read it forwards and backwards. Deed and level are the usual school examples. A famous English sentence is “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama.” When you check, you ignore spaces, , and capital letters. Though actually, people stretch it. Dates like 2021-12-02 get called palindromes too. In Chinese, 迴文 is an old and loved game — a line you can read both ways — so many students get the idea faster in Chinese than in English. The English word itself is a puzzle-book word, not a daily one.
