Palau is a small island country in the western Pacific Ocean, south-east of the Philippines. It is made of many islands. The capital is Melekeok; Koror is the town many visitors actually know. Only about twenty thousand people live there. English speakers say Palau; the people themselves call the country Belau. In Taiwan it is a well-known place for diving holidays — a real country, not a region of somewhere else.
