If a building is palatial, it is very large and , like a palace: high rooms, shining floors, more space than ordinary life needs. People say it of houses, hotels, halls, and sometimes gardens; they do not usually say it of a person. It is a rather formal, word — you are pointing at , not just size. Though actually, the place need not be a real palace at all. A new villa can be palatial if it simply looks too grand for everyday living. In speech, huge or fancy will often do; palatial belongs more to writing and careful description.
