In old stories of the Middle Ages, a paladin is a knight of high rank who is very brave and loyal — often one of a small band of champions around a great king, especially in the French tales of . The word carries a feeling of honour: not just any soldier on a horse, but a champion who stands for a cause. Though actually, almost nobody uses paladin in everyday talk about real people now. You will meet it in history and legend, and a lot in games and fantasy books, where a paladin is often a holy warrior who heals and fights for good. Game talk has stretched the old palace-knight into a character class. That is loose, but it is how many younger people first meet the word. It is a or hobby word, not a word for the bus.
組成Borrowed from French paladin, from Italian paladino, from Late Latin palātīnus (“palace officer”), derived from palātium (“palace”). Doublet of palatine. So the oldest idea is someone who belongs to the palace.
