An oversupply is the state of having more of something than people need, or more than shops can sell.

An oversupply is所謂oversupply,指的是 the state of having more of something than people need某樣東西多到超過大家需要的狀態, or more than shops can sell或多到店家賣不完。

Farmers talk about an oversupply of fruit; the price often falls because so much is sitting there. Factories talk about an oversupply of chips or cars the same way.

Farmers農夫 talk about an oversupply of fruit會說水果供過於求(oversupply);the price often falls價格常常因此下跌 because so much is sitting there因為堆了太多在那裡。Factories工廠 talk about an oversupply of chips or cars the same way也會這樣說晶片或汽車供過於求。

You can also use it as a verb: to oversupply a market. It is neat, slightly formal English from business and economics. In everyday talk, people say there's too much of it.

You can also use it as a verb它也可以當動詞用: to oversupply a market就是to oversupply a market(讓一個市場供過於求)。It is它是 neat, slightly formal English簡潔、有點正式的英文 from business and economics來自商業和經濟領域。In everyday talk在日常對話裡, people say there's too much of it大家會說東西太多了就好。

Though actually, oversupply is about the amount out in the world — a market, a season, a country — not about one shop buying too much for its own shelves. That nearer word is . The two sit side by side, and they are easy to mix.

Though actually不過其實,oversupply is about the amount out in the worldoversupply說的是外面世界的總量──a market, a season, a country一個市場、一個季節、一整個國家──not about而不是 one shop buying too much for its own shelves某一間店自己進太多貨、擺不下。That nearer word比較接近的那個字 is overstock是overstock。The two兩個字 sit side by side常常擺在一起, and它們 are easy to mix也很容易搞混。
