Ought means 'should' — it says what is the right or expected thing to do. It's always followed by 'to' plus a verb: 'You ought to call her.' It sounds a little more old-fashioned and formal than 'should', so in everyday spoken English people usually say 'should' instead. You'll still meet 'ought' in writing, polite requests, or fixed lines like 'You ought to know better.'
