One-piece means something is made as a single thing, not as parts you join or take apart. A one-piece is the kind that is not a bikini — it covers the body in one piece of clothing. A one-piece dress or a one-piece snowsuit is the same idea: built as one unit, so nothing splits at the waist. The word almost always sits before a noun. Though actually, in shops and on the beach, “a one-piece” by itself often means the ; people drop the word because everyone knows. That extra meaning is very common in clothes talk, but a one-piece tool or a one-piece fishing rod is still just “made of one piece.” Compare two-piece (a bikini, or a skirt and jacket) and three-piece (a suit with an extra middle piece).
