On-screen means you can see it on a screen — a computer, a phone, a television, or a cinema screen. An on-screen keyboard is the one drawn on the glass, not the plastic one on your desk. On-screen instructions pop up inside a programme. Film people also talk about on-screen chemistry: two actors look good together in the story you watch. What they are like off-screen, in real life, is a different question. Use the when the word sits before a noun (an on-screen menu); after a verb you can also write two words (it appears on screen).
