When a radio or TV show is on-air, it is going out to people right now. The red ON AIR light in a studio means: we are sending the programme; do not walk in and talk. You will also see it before a noun: an on-air interview, an on-air job (talking on radio or TV for a living). People go on air when they start, and go off air when they stop. Though actually, on-air and live are not always the same thing. A show can be on-air this minute but recorded yesterday. On-air only says it is going out; live says it is happening at the same time you hear it. Everyday English when you talk about radio and TV; inside a station, people use it all day.
on-air 指節目現在正在播出，不管是廣播還是電視都可以。它可以放在名詞前，例如「an on-air interview」（播出中的訪談），也可以描述工作，例如「an on-air job」（在電台或電視上主持、播報的工作）。開始播出時說「go on air」，結束時說「go off air」。
它跟 live 不完全一樣：on-air 只說節目正在播，不一定是同步播出，錄好的節目也可以 on-air；live 才是你聽到的同時，它正在發生。這是談廣播和電視時的日常用語，電台裡的人幾乎天天在用。
