When something is old-style, it is like the kind of thing people had, or the way they did it, in the past — not the newest kind. An old-style café may still serve in the old way; old-style means the older way of doing . You will almost always see it in front of a noun: old-style cooking, an old-style machine. It sits close to old-fashioned. Though actually, old-fashioned can sound a little like “behind the times,” while old-style often just names a type — “the older kind” — without it. Everyday English; not slang and not stiff.
