If something is oiled, someone has put a layer of oil on it. A baker uses an oiled tin so the cake comes out. A carpenter oils wood to feed it and make it shine. You oil a lock or a chain so it does not stick. The word is just oil with -ed, used like an adjective. is a neighbour but not the same: often means it feels greasy, maybe in a way you do not want — hair, food. Oiled usually means the oil was put on on purpose, and it is doing a job. People also say a machine when they mean it runs smoothly; the oil is half real and half a picture. In older informal British English, oiled can also mean drunk; you may meet that in stories, but it is not the everyday meaning.
組成oil + -ed. The -ed ending here makes an adjective: something that has had oil put on it.
