Something non-scientific does not use scientific methods to gather information or to decide what to believe. It does not automatically mean 'stupid' or 'wrong.' A family story, a gut feeling, a religious teaching, or a guess on TV can all be non-scientific: they may still matter to people, but they are not built by measuring, testing, and checking in a way others can repeat. Though actually, people often throw this word as an insult, as if 'not science' were the same as 'nonsense.' Scientists guess too, and some popular 'science' online is sloppy. The fair use is about method, not about whether you like the claim: did anyone test this so that another person could try the same thing? If not, call it non-scientific — a description, not a verdict by itself.
