1. 1

Nodal means “of a node” or “connected with a node”. A node is a point where things meet, or a little lump — in a network, on a plant stem, in the body. So nodal is the adjective that hangs on that idea: nodal point, nodal tissue, nodal line. You meet it in science, medicine, and engineering, not in everyday chat. It is a dry, technical word. Though actually, who know node from computers (“a point in a network”) still may not meet nodal for a long time; the noun is common, this adjective is for people already talking about nodes.
