NME stands for the New Musical Express. It began as a British weekly paper about rock and pop — the kind you bought for charts, interviews, and sharp reviews. For years it was one of the loudest voices in UK music: a good NME write-up could help a band, and a bad one could sting. Later it moved more and more online, and the paper itself changed, but people still say NME when they mean that famous British music press. You say the letters “N-M-E”. It is a proper name, like a title, not a general word for “music news”.
