In Buddhism and , the state of perfect peace that a person can reach when all suffering, wanting, and self end. In everyday English, people borrow the word loosely to mean a place or feeling of complete happiness and peace, with no worries at all — 'this beach is nirvana.'

From Sanskrit निर्वाण 'blown out, extinguished', from निस् 'out' + वा 'to blow'.
借自梵文 निर्वाण「吹熄、熄滅」，由「出」加「吹」組成。
