Newsprint is the cheap, thin paper that newspapers are printed on. It is usually a little grey, not bright white, and it tears if you are not careful. When you hold a real newspaper, ink can come off on your fingers — that is newsprint doing that. Printers buy it in huge rolls because they need so much of it and it has to stay low-cost. Though actually, the word names the paper, not the news: a newspaper is the finished thing you read; newsprint is the stuff it is made from. People also use leftover sheets to wrap glasses or line a drawer, because it is cheap and there is a lot of it. You meet the word less now that so much news lives on a phone, but in a print shop it is still the ordinary name.
組成news + print. News is the reports; print is the paper-and-ink side — the cheap paper you print on.
