    A newscaster is the person who reads the news on television or radio, usually from a studio. In American English this is a common word. In Britain people more often say , and on TV they also say presenter or anchor. A newscaster is not, as a rule, the reporter out in the street with a microphone; they are the face or the voice in the studio. Some younger speakers find the word a little old-fashioned and just say “the person on the news”.
