Netting is material made of string, wire, plastic, or thread woven into a net. You buy a roll of netting to cover fruit trees, to make a goal, to keep mosquitoes out, or to wrap something in a mesh. A net is often the finished thing — a fishing net, a tennis net — while netting is the stuff itself, or a stretch of that mesh. The word is ordinary and practical, not fancy. Garden netting, wire netting, and mosquito netting are the kinds of phrases you will actually meet.
網、網狀材料(鐵絲網、紗網、防鳥網那類;指材料本身,不一定是一張做好的網)
組成From net + -ing: the mesh word net, from Old English nett, plus the ending that turns it into the material. (A different, old word that looked the same once meant urine; that is not this word.)
