    Nebraska is a state in the middle of the United States, out on the Great Plains. A lot of it is : it grows corn and wheat, and it raises cattle and pigs. The largest city is Omaha; the capital is Lincoln. It is not a coastal state and not really a mountain state — it is wide and fairly flat. That fits the name. The name is probably from a Native word meaning 'flat water', either archaic Chiwere Ñí Brásge (today's Chiwere Ñí Bráhge) or Omaha-Ponca Ní Bthá, after the Platte River that runs through the state. People outside America often cannot place it on a map. Inside America it often stands for farm country, and for a long, quiet stretch of the drive across the middle of the country. Write it with a capital N: it is a place name.

組成Probably from archaic Chiwere Ñí Brásge (contemporary Chiwere Ñí Bráhge) or from Omaha-Ponca Ní Btháska, both meaning 'flat water', after the Platte River.
