A small piece of cloth or paper that you use at the table to clean your mouth or hands while eating, or to protect your clothes. In American English, 'napkin' is also sometimes used for a sanitary pad, so British speakers often say 'serviette' for the table one instead - but in most everyday teaching, 'napkin' for the table item is completely normal and safe.
