Munster is one of the four big regions of the Republic of Ireland, in the southwest. It contains the counties of Clare, Cork, Kerry, , , and Waterford. Irish people use it for place, sport, and identity — the Munster rugby team is famous, and I'm from Munster means that whole area, not one city. Though actually, English speakers sometimes mix it up with Münster in Germany, which is a different place with a different spelling, and with Munster cheese, which is another use of a similar name.
芒斯特(愛爾蘭西南部省份;勿與德國的明斯特 Münster 搞混)
組成From Old Irish Mumu (in the forms Mumain or Muman) + Old Norse staðr, a word for a place. So: the old Irish name for the land, plus a Norse word for 'stead / place'.
