Munificent means very generous, especially with money or gifts. A munificent donor gives a great deal. It is a formal adjective; with friends you would more often say very generous. It was cut backwards from the noun . Though actually, like that noun, it points to large giving, not only a warm heart. A munificent thank-you can also mean praise poured out freely, but money and gifts are the core picture.
