A multivitamin is a pill, tablet, gummy, or sometimes a liquid that packs many different vitamins into one dose — A, C, D, and the rest, often with minerals too. You take it as a daily supplement when you worry food is not giving you enough. Shops print “multivitamins” on the bottle, though actually you usually swallow one pill, not a handful of separate vitamins. It also works as an adjective: a multivitamin tablet. It is ordinary health-shop English, not a doctor’s technical word. Though actually a varied diet often covers the same ground, a lot of people still take one “just in case.”
