Used of a computer system or a piece of software that more than one person can use at the same time. Old office computers were built this way; today a shared drive, a classroom login system, or some kinds of software can be multi-user too. It belongs to computer talk, not to everyday chat. Though actually gamers usually say multiplayer for games; multi-user stays with systems and software. You may also see it written as one word, multiuser. The opposite idea is single-user: only one person at a time.
multi-user 是形容詞，用來說電腦系統或軟體可以讓不只一個人同時使用。它的畫面是很多人共用同一台機器或同一套系統，例如共用的硬碟，或教室裡的登入系統。
這是電腦用語，不太會出現在日常閒聊。玩遊戲的人一般會說 multiplayer，所以 multi-user 比較留給系統和軟體。拼法上也可以寫成一個字 multiuser，意思一樣。想表達相反的意思，就用 single-user，指一次只有一個人能用。
