An MPV is a big family car made so several people can sit together — often six, seven, or even eight. The letters stand for Multi-Purpose Vehicle, which just means a car for more than one job: school runs, bags, , a holiday. In Britain people also say people carrier. In the US the close idea is a minivan, though the shape is not always the same. You will see MPV on car and in the garage more than in ordinary chat; it is a bit of a car-shop word. Though actually, makers stretch it: some call a tall five-seat car an MPV, and students often mix it up with an SUV. An SUV sits higher and looks more ready for rough ground. An MPV is usually lower and longer inside, and thinks first about people and shopping, not mud. It is not a work van, and it is not a bus.
MPV、多功能休旅車(台灣車市也直接講 MPV;別和 SUV「休旅車」搞混,MPV 較像廂型、先想坐人)
組成Short for Multi-Purpose Vehicle: multi- = many, purpose = uses, vehicle = a car or van.
