A motet is a piece of music, usually for voices, on a religious subject. It is not a pop song and not a whole opera. Choirs sing it, often in parts, in a church or a concert hall. The word belongs to classical and church music; ordinary daily English almost never needs it. If you study music history you will meet it a lot. It is a quiet, formal kind of piece — though actually motets have changed shape over the centuries, and some later ones are not only for church.
