A "mortuary" is a place where dead bodies are kept, cleaned, and prepared before a funeral. Hospitals often have a small mortuary inside them. It's a formal, slightly cold-sounding word - the kind you'd read in a news report or hear a doctor or police officer use, not a word people use in casual daily talk. In American English, people more often say "morgue" for the same idea, especially in hospitals or with police.
