Morose means unhappy, bad-tempered, and silent with it. A morose person is not only sad; they pull a dark face and do not want to talk. It is a fairly word. In everyday talk people more often say moody, gloomy, or sulky. It usually paints a lasting colour of mood, not one quick tear. You can be quietly morose at a party and still say almost nothing.
