A moose is a very large brown animal in the deer family, with a heavy head, a big nose, and — on the males — huge flat that spread out like two open hands, not like the branches most deer wear. It lives in cold forests in North America, northern Europe, and parts of Asia, and it eats leaves, twigs, and bark; it will strip bark off a tree as it feeds. In North America everyone says moose. Though actually, in Europe the very same animal is often called an elk, which is a trap, because in North America elk means a different deer (the ). One moose, two moose — we do not say mooses. It is not a myth; it is just enormous, and it can be dangerous if you surprise one.
組成Not an English compound. Earlier English had mus, moos, borrowed from an Eastern Algonquian name for the animal (Massachusett moos, Narragansett moos, Penobscot mos), from a Proto-Algonquian word meaning “it strips” — the way a moose strips tree bark when it feeds.
