Montana is a state in the northwestern United States. It is the fourth largest state by land, but one of the smallest by population: a lot of sky, farms, and mountains, and not many people. The Rocky Mountains run through the west of the state, which fits the name — it comes from a word for mountain. Canada lies to the north; other U.S. states sit around it, including Idaho and Wyoming. People sometimes call it Big Sky Country. It is a state, not a country, and it is not , which is a small country in Europe with a similar-looking name.
