Mongolia is a country in north-central Asia, with Russia to the north and China to the south. The capital is (older English sometimes wrote Ulan Bator). It is a huge land of grass plains and desert, so few people live there for the size of the map — a few million, not tens of millions. People sometimes call it Outer Mongolia, to set it apart from Inner Mongolia, which is a part of China, not a separate country. Though actually, 'Outer Mongolia' is informal and a bit old; the country itself is just Mongolia. The name comes from the people. In English you go to Mongolia; a person from there is , not 'a Mongolia.'
