If people arrive mob-handed, they come together in a large group, more people than you strictly needed, often so the other side feels . Police might go into a place mob-handed; a pack of friends might turn up mob-handed to help you move house. It is British informal, a bit colourful, and it often has a feeling of “too many, on purpose” — not merely “there were several of us.” Two people are not a mob. You would not use it in careful writing.
