mo. is a written short form of month. You see it in dates, forms, ads, and notes about age or time: 3 mo. meaning three months, or a baby described as 6 mo. old. It belongs on the page. If you are talking, you say “month.” The dot shows it is a cut-down word, though some writers leave the dot off. It is not the same as mo without the dot, which in British talk can mean a very short time.
