A mitt is a kind of glove. It usually means one of two things: a soft glove used to catch a ball in baseball (a catcher's mitt), or a glove that covers all four fingers together instead of separately, like an oven mitt for picking up hot pans. In casual, joking speech, 'mitts' can also just mean hands ('keep your mitts off my food').
