Minty means tasting or smelling of mint — that cool, fresh green plant used in sweets, tea, sauce, and toothpaste. A minty drink, minty gum, minty breath after you clean your teeth. It is an everyday, slightly informal word: you say it about flavour and smell, not about money. English also has another mint, the place that makes coins, and a verb to mint, to make new coins or, loosely, to invent something new. Minty never belongs to that money mint; it only goes with the plant. If something is only a little bit like mint, people still say minty; if they want to be stronger they may say very minty or too minty.
