A milkmaid was a woman whose job, on a farm, was to sit by the cow and take the milk by hand. The word belongs to the past. You meet it in old stories, paintings, and fairy tales, not on a modern farm, where machines do that work and the worker is just a dairy farmer or farm worker. It has a soft, country, storybook feel. Nobody puts milkmaid on a job today. It is always a woman; the old male counterpart in stories is not a milkmaid.
擠奶女工(舊時;故事裡常見)
