Midweek means on a day in the middle of the week — not the weekend. People usually mean Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, though actually some speakers stretch it to any day that is not Saturday or Sunday. You hear it in 'a midweek meeting,' 'midweek football,' 'I'll call you midweek.' It is ordinary spoken English, a little more compact than 'during the week.' In some related languages a word that looks like 'midweek' is simply their name for Wednesday; English did not go that way. We kept Wednesday, and midweek stayed a looser 'somewhere in the middle days.' Neutral, slightly informal. It can be a noun (during midweek) or sit in front of another noun (a midweek game).
