A microprocessor is the small chip that acts as the brain of a computer. It is the part that follows instructions and controls most of what the machine does. Phones, laptops, and many other electronic things have one. The idea is a whole processor made tiny, on one chip (or a few chips). That change, in the 1970s, is a big reason home computers became possible. Today the same kind of chip also sits in cars, washing machines, and toys. In careful talk, this chip is the central processor. The machine still needs other chips for memory and storage. In loose talk people just say processor or the chip. It is a normal word in computing, a little stiff for daily chat.
