Merciless describes someone or something showing no mercy at all — completely without kindness or forgiveness toward someone who is suffering or has lost. A merciless enemy keeps attacking even when the other side is helpless; the sun can be described as merciless when it's extremely hot with no relief; a merciless critic gives harsh, reviews with no gentleness at all.
