Merch is an informal short form of merchandise: goods sold with a name or picture on them — T-shirts, caps, bags, posters. Fans, bands, YouTubers, and sports teams talk about merch all the time. Though actually, people now often mean the extra branded stuff around a concert, idol, or game, not every thing in a shop. A supermarket’s stock is merchandise; the singer’s tour hoodie is merch. You may also hear it as a verb in business talk, but students will mostly meet the noun. It is casual. A serious contract still says merchandise.
